Never mind Manchester City. The hottest team in the country is Aston Villa.

Following their Boxing Day disappointment against Brentford Steve Bruce’s side have now won 5 straight in the league, forcing themselves back in the race for automatic promotion.

In a league where form is more important than any other division, the Villans have managed to win their last 5 games by an aggregate of 11-1. This includes a hugely impressive 5-0 victory against the media’s new favourite team, Bristol City.

But as with all good runs they have had their fair share of good fortune too, none more so than in their last gasp win against early season pace setters Sheffield United. It’s often stated that the good team’s get all the luck. Whilst I dislike the term luck, I do believe that fortune favours the bold. This was a game that Villa would have not won back in September.

With Burton visiting Birmingham today and with 3 of their next 4 at home the Villa Park outfit are a sure thing to carry on their excellent form.
