The rules for these predictions are easy. You have to select 10 games (no more than two from one division). You have to select at least 2 away wins and at least 1 draw. And you are only allowed to pick 1 absolute banker. Once you have made your picks, head over to Skybet (or your preferred betting partner) and pop a quid on it. Be sure to send us your predictions too!
Here are Guy’s picks for this weekend:
Bristol City vs Sunderland – Bristol City have been a bit off form recently, with only 4 points from their last 6 league games. But a home tie against a woeful Sunderland side should be just what they need to get their promotion dreams back on track.
Bolton Wanderers vs Fulham – After winning their last 5 league matches Fulham find themselves in a Championship play off place. That form, combined with the fact Bolton lost Gary Madine the Goal Machine in January, means they should come away from the Macron with a win.
Bradford City vs Bury – Bradford are about as out of form as you can get at the moment, losing their last 7 in all competitions. But they sacked manager Stuart McCall this week so I’m hoping that could be the kick up the arse they need to turn things around, and the fact Bury are rock bottom in League One made this pick a little easier.
MK Dons vs Portsmouth – I hate MK Dons. Every time I see them in the League One relegation places my heart fills with a little bit of joy. They have picked up just 6 points from their last 10 league games, while Portsmouth find themselves pushing for a play off place. Not much to say other than PLAY UP POMPEY, POMPEY PLAY UP!
Coventry City vs Accrington Stanley – Draw – Accrington have won 6 of their last 7 but they face a tough trip to Coventry where their hosts have lost just twice all season. Neither team will want to lose this one as Coventry try to grab a play off place while Stanley try to keep hold of their spot in the automatic promotion places.
Hannover 96 vs SC Freiburg – Here’s where I start venturing into the unknown. When these 2 teams met at Freiburg earlier in the season it was a 1-1 draw. I’m hoping the home field advantage will be enough for Hannover to turn that stalemate into a victory.
Sparta Rotterdam vs PSV Eindhoven – PSV find themselves top of the Eredivise, while Sparta are rock bottom. Also PSV won the last meeting in December 1-0. Easy pick.
Sevilla vs Girona – Sevilla are 6th in La Liga, 3 places above Girona. Los Rojiblancos (that’s the red and whites for anyone that, like me, didn’t know Sevilla’s nickname) won the first meeting between these 2 teams earlier this season and they should be buoyed by the fact they made the Copa del Rey final this week too.
Crotone vs Atalanta – Atalanta have won 3 of their last 5, the 2 losses coming against the top 2 in Serie A Juventus and Napoli. They should despatch of 17th placed Crotone quite easily, especially as they trounced them 5-1 earlier this season.
K.A.A. Gent vs Sint-Trudien V.V. – following on from my colleagues’ decision to make obscure 10th picks I have gone to the Belgian First Division A for mine. This is purely a case of picking a team I have heard of playing against a team I haven’t heard of, but I can tell you that this exact fixture happened just 2 weeks ago and ended in a 1-1 draw. Welp.
Betfred 10 fold acca price – 635/1
Lock of the week – PSV Eindhoven
Top of the league against bottom – no problems in Eindhoven.
Potential Acca crasher – Hannover 96
Both Hannover and Freiburg love a draw, with Hannover drawing 33% of their games this season and Freiburg drawing almost 50% of theirs. Hoping the team with a badge that looks like a petrol station logo can find the the extra gear to get a win in this matchup.
